Dear {{ contact.VORNAME }} {{ contact.NACHNAME }}, We are pleased to announce the launch of the IAMC Scientific Working Group (SWG) on Human Health and Wellbeing. With the growing importance of the health–climate interface in international and national policy, there is rising demand for robust, policy-relevant projections of health risks under climate and development pathways. This SWG brings together integrated assessment modellers, global health researchers, climate impact modellers, economists, and policy experts to advance health-climate science as a high-priority area for the IAMC community.
The group aims to: Coordinate the incorporation of health-relevant indicators into IAMs and scenario frameworks; Facilitate uptake of those scenarios by the health research community; Support the development, intercomparison, and quality assurance of health-focused model development and extensions.
The SWG is co-chaired by Kristie L. Ebi (University of Washington) and Marina Andrijevic (IIASA), with strong emphasis on participation from global and national health modelling teams.
How to engage: Stay informed: Follow SWG updates through the IAMC website, which will share information across the IAM and health communities. Connect in person: The SWG will organise dedicated sessions at the IAMC Annual Meeting, starting Fall 2026. Build capacity: In Fall 2026, the SWG will help coordinate the 3rd Wellcome Trust capacity-building workshop, with a particular focus on researchers from low- and middle-income countries. Contribute: In the longer term, participants can join model intercomparison exercises — protocols, data templates, and joint activities — and broader stakeholder coordination across ongoing and forthcoming IAM- and health-relevant projects.
IAMC members that are interested in participating in the work of the SWG please sign up here. For other scientific inquiries, please contact the SWG Co-Chairs. We look forward to building this community together.
Best regards, IAMC Secretariat
