Start of IAM diagnostics exercise

The Scientific Working Group on Model Diagnostics and Evaluation has launched a pilot exercise to develop a community-standard diagnostic framework for Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs). No less than 32 teams have shown interest in joining the exercise. Through a set of stylized scenario runs based on a common carbon price pathway, participating teams will help strengthen model transparency, comparability, and validation — contributing to a planned high-level joint publication.

The scenario protocol has been finalized and can be found here. The final submission deadline for the scenarios is September 2026. To all teams that that would like to join, but have not yet indicated this; please contact Mark Dekker (mark.dekker@pbl.nl) and/or Mathijs Harmsen (Mathijs.harmsen@pbl.nl)
