What the consortium does

The IAMC was established in 2007 in response to a request from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to develop new integrated assessment scenarios for climate change research. It has since grown into the main international forum for the integrated assessment modeling community.

Integrated assessment models bring together representations of the energy system, land use, the economy and the climate in a single consistent framework. They are the principal tools used to explore long-term mitigation and adaptation pathways, and their results underpin much of the scenario literature assessed by the IPCC.

The consortium coordinates model comparison projects, maintains community documentation and scenario databases, runs seven scientific working groups, and convenes an Annual Meeting that brings the community together each year.
